Avon Old Farms Ice Rink Solar Panel Project

About This Project

About This Project

Carlisle ECOStar Synthetic Slate F.I.P. Construction This hockey rink in Avon, CT is only one of the many sports facilities boasted by the Avon Old Farms private school. The Jennings Fairchild Rink serves the student body’s needs for a winter sports arena, and is one of the best secondary school ice rinks in the nation. During the renovation, the school decided to go green with sustainable materials and alternative energy.

In addition to a re-roofing, Eagle Rivet was contracted to install a large number of solar panels on the ice rink roof. The new roof was covered with Carlisle Eco-Star synthetic slate, after which, we installed a 205 kilowatt solar array, comprised of 672 individual panels. Eagle Rivet did all the electrical and installation work, in addition to determining which side of the roof the array needs to be installed on, for maximum sunlight exposure.
